ATA/SATA Drive

NVME Drive

use nvme command:

  • boot from a Ubuntu desktop live image
  • run apt update and install nvme-cli (may need to add additional repositories to /etc/apt/sources.list)
  • put the computer to sleep for a few seconds: systemctl suspend
  • now wipe:
nvme format -s1 /dev/nvme0n1 (change to match your drive)
